Technologue is excited to return at Under9KL on the 21st April with Reka (Tresor, Berlin) whilst pushing the radical sounds of the underground. Be prepared for non-conformity and a quality night with no pretences. They’re all about bringing you the raw nocturnal energy that is the spirit of techno that pays homage to the 4/4 sounds that were better chronicled in warehouses during the late 90s and early 2000s. Make no mistake that you will be hearing quality cuts that range from classics to new from our DJ’s all night long. They go from deep to funky, tribal to industrial, soulful to hard. All in the promise of good techno.
With a thirst for adventurous selections oscillating between dystopian aesthetics and moments of sheer beauty, REKA has cultivated her very own personal approach to heady machine music. Featuring everything from contemporary techno to the genre's prototypical past of electro, her sets are highly sensitive affairs; manoeuvring seamlessly through dance music's many permutations with the same manual control and balance that goes into riding her motorcycle through the streets of Berlin.
Started collecting vinyls at the age of 10, REKA became equally infatuated with science and it was not until she finished her degree in Genetics that she decided to pursue her artistic path. Her eagerness for knowledge and deep analytic traits can be felt through her carefully narrated musical journeys. Merely one year into her DJ career, she was discovered by DJ Hell and joined International Deejay Gigolos as part of the female duo leChic, releasing the critically acclaimed CD-mix “leMix”. Few years later, she was selected to participate in Toronto edition of Red Bull Music Academy and eventually felt the desire to start her solo path, considerably darker and gravitating towards more experimental realms.
Currently Berlin-based, REKA holds a residency at the legendary club TRESOR. Besides her duties as a resident DJ, she enjoys her role as a curator whether organising her own successful W.A.V.E.S. nights or hosting TRESOR´s New Faces where she scouts new talents. Her rich experience and broad musical range have rendered her remarkably versatile, delivering a strong performance at any time, stage or context.
Together with DEEN, Notion A (Plus Records/SoulMatters/Technologue) and Jason Voon (Technologue) for the night.
