Godwin P shares the tale of his underground journey through a stellar sonic experience. Spanning more than two decades, he continues to live and breathe the music and dance culture, with an ever-growing musical spectrum that leaves his punters screaming for more, will be featuring at The Sweatbox Long Play this Friday 28 September 2018 at REN @ Kyo KL
With a sound he describes as “different layers of energy”, Godwin’s sets consist of him pushing the boundaries, and himself, harder each time, taking revellers on a journey like no other. Think dirty, nasty and funky as he dishes out fresh slices of aural sushi, and lotsa' funk-laced gut invigorating "mish-mash", on his voyage of musical madness through house and techno. From South America to Vietnam, small intimate rooms of sweaty hardcore dancers to huge sound arenas and festivals, Godwin travels extensively around the world to spread his love of music, and share his energy across the globe.
Godwin’s flair on the decks, coupled with his selective ear for quality tunes, gained him the reputation of being one of the best DJs in Singapore. In 2010, he was listed as one of the top 10 DJs who have shaped Singapore's electronic music dance landscape, and was crowned as one of the 50 outstanding individuals who have contributed passionately to the music industry in the #styleXSG50 2015 Awards.
Godwin is a respected music consultant and bar operator in Singapore’s music and nightlife scene. With almost 30 years of experience in the lifestyle and entertainment industries, he founded his own award-winning establishments - Kyo, The Vault, Refuge and Terra, as well as the first Halloween music festival in Singapore, Freq’ender.
Prior to being a club owner, Godwin lent his expertise as a developer of entertainment content to numerous nightspots and club-chains. He was the main man behind the successes of major brands in Singapore, such as Ministry of Sound, SupperClub, DXO, StereoLab and Ku De Ta.
Godwin’s latest venture, Kyo Kuala Lumpur, marks his first international expansion, with hopes to develop the underground scene in Malaysia. He continues to curate the bold marketing and music/arts program for the club, in addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations. Barely two years old, the venue has already played host to Francois K, Dubfire, Seth Troxler, Talib Kweli, Mano Le Tough and more.
