TokiMonsta at Jiro KL 22 February 2019

Arguably one of the finest and most notable amongst the luminaries of the highly-esteemed Los Angeles beat scene, TOKiMONSTA has long been a name synonymous with electronic music.  TOKiMONSTA will be back in KL for another epic night at Jiro Kuala Lumpur this 22 February 2019.

Her multiple musical influences spans an entire spectrum, and it shows very obviously in her work. She fuses her background of classical piano influences with the boom bap and progressive electronic music she picked up in her high school days, creating an extremely distinct and forward-pushing brand of sound that is unique to the name that is TOKiMONSTA.

This has led her to landing spots on rosters as distinguished as that of Flying Lotus’ acclaimed Brainfeeder, joining Kamasi Washington and Thundercat amongst other cognoscenti.

No stranger to playing massive, world-renowned festivals such as Coachella, SXSW, and BUKU, she has constantly sold-out shows all across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Having been an honoured alumni of prestigious institutions such as the Red Bull Music Academy, Project Blowed, and Low End Theory (which has seen visitors such as Prince (RIP), Idris Elba, Thom Yorke, and Erykah Badu) TOKiMONSTA has collaborated with other modern-day pacesetters such as Anderson Paak, Yuna, and Isaiah Rashad.

Her recent (2019) Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic album is just the cherry on top, having gained constant recognition from respectable platforms such as BBC Radio1, Pitchfork, NPR, and Rolling Stone.

Opening for this Friday’s big show with TOKiMONSTA, our homegrown heroes – Twinkies KLRoshan Menon and Naufal Anwa fire it up.
