Transtellar 2018 MITEC KL 27 January 2018

Transtellar 2018 MITEC KL 27 January 2018

Hybrid Music Asia presents TRANSTELLAR Festival this 27 January at MITEC, KL. Transtellar 2018  represents a thematic sci-fi experience that elevates explorers to a whole new Hybrid experience through space travel.

The Hybrid spaceship is launching its mission on Jan 27 to send explorers from the first destination, Kuala Lumpur to various planets with a state of heightened consciousness through music and visuals. Hybrid will be collaborating with Lemonsky Games and Animation to provide some unique visual effects in this virtual space odyssey with visuals.

Flying in to headline Transtellar 2018 will be one of the most familiar names to us from the international trance scene. Visits from Dutch born superstar DJ Ferry Corsten are pretty much commonplace here now,  he was last in KL just last August, but this time he brings with him Ferry Corsten presents Gouryella 2.0, the other trance moniker that he is historically renowned.

Ferry Corsten at Transtellar 2018 Kuala Lumpur

Ferry Corsten: In 1998, Dutch musicians Ferry Corsten and Tiesto joined forces to create Gouryella. Gouryella has produced seven singles. Gouryella, Walhalla, Tenshi and Ligaya from 1998 to 2002, and Anahera, Neba, and Venera since 2015.

While Tiesto left the project in 2001, and Corsten ceased to produce any Gouryella music after 2002, throughout the years, fans have never stopped asking about new Gouryella. After a 13-year break, Ferry Corsten announced the return of his Gouryella alias via the single Anahera, released through Flashover Recordings..

When asked about his decision to revive his trance moniker, Corsten was quoted: “I felt like bringing Gouryella back for a certain personal tiredness of what was going on in the scene. I was sick and tired of all the “Put your hands up, put your f***g hands up!” whatever. Without getting too sentimental, I felt like I wanted to bring back that old sentiment and emotion from the turn of the century type-of-thing. I thought it was the right moment.”

2015 also saw Gouryella take a leap from the studio to the stage, launching its live show concept in Sydney and Melbourne, before taking the world tour to the mainstage of the Dreamstate arena at Insomniac's Beyond Wonderland and Electric Daisy Carnival: New York, Ultra Europe, Balaton Sound, Tomorrowland and more.

In June 2016, Flashover Recordings released the sixth Gouryella single Neba. Following the second run of Gouryella live performances across the globe, Ferry Corsten unveiled From The Heavens, featuring new versions of the first four Gouryella tracks as well as Anahera and Neba. And just last year 2017 saw the release of Venera (Vee’s Theme).

As Ferry himself, Corsten released his sixth studio album Blueprint last May. Unlike his earlier albums, Blueprint is a concept album based on a science fiction-themed love story. While Malaysian fans have had the pleasure of welcoming Ferry to DJ in KL, Penang and Malacca a few times already since 2015, this will be the FIRST time he will present Gouryella in its new 2.0 version.

Joining Gouryella on this inaugural Transtellar jaunt will be a couple more legends in the trance scene well loved by us Malaysians – John O’Callaghan (IRE) and, just announced, Gareth Emery (UK) – both of whom have appeared more times than we count on one hand to DJ here.
