Vanguard Rising promises a night of raw, unfiltered energy at Merdekarya this Saturday

Malaysia’s indie underground is stirring. Sid Menon Presents: Vanguard Rising promises a night of raw, unfiltered energy and the loudest sounds of tomorrow. Happening Saturday, May 31st, 2025 at Merdekarya, this showcase marks a new chapter in Malaysia’s live music culture, where sonic identities are born and legends begin.

Vanguard Rising is not just a gig, it’s a movement. Curated by Sid Menon, a stalwart of the local music scene and founder of Sid Menon Presents, this event continues his mission to spotlight the country’s freshest and fiercest emerging acts. Following the success of previous showcases like Syok Rock and Sonic Circus, Vanguard Rising takes the torch forward with a bold, new lineup this Saturday, featuring Dukes, The Baby Cosmos, Raksar and The Cauliflower Robbery.

This isn’t just about bands playing songs. It’s about setting the stage for the next wave. Vanguard Rising is where Malaysia’s indie future gets loud,” says Sid Menon.

Dukes – KL’s indie darlings blend nostalgic British pop rock with a modern twist. Their electric live energy and poignant lyrics promise a performance not to miss.

The Baby Cosmos – With echoes of The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, this band brings cinematic indie rock that captures the ache and thrill of youth.

Raksar – High-voltage fuzz rock meets stoner grit. Raksarr’s bone-rattling sound is built for the stage—and meant to shake it.

The Cauliflower Robbery – A three-piece rock juggernaut channeling the spirit of classic rock and metal, straight from the underground.
