The Orient Afternoon Tea by Gung Ho is an impressive box of oriental-inspired dim sums, mini-cakes and bon-bons, as well as teas and mocktails. The Box!
The packaging of the box, with its graphic design and ribbon wrapping, starts you off with an immediate – WOW! It looks amazing and has a classically hip appearance.
And then you open the box. And you just say OMG! The dim sums, mini-cakes and bon bons are so beautifully decorated and arranged, you feel bad to eat it…. But eat it you must!
We started with the savoury dim sums and enjoyed every bite. Crispy Yam Chicken Puff, Cod Fish Cheese Fillet Rolls, Golden Egg Tarts and Sliders made of prawn and seaweed served on mantau. They were all truly delicious.

Each dim sum is served in pairs and presented in adorable Chinese take-away mini-white boxes. The presentation is as fantastic as the taste!
Sweet Treats
And then we moved onto the vast array of sweet treats. They looked so gorgeous, and they decorate each one in an Asian, New Year theme - like mini mandarin oranges, mahjong tiles and moon cakes.
They were a real treat to pop into our mouths, each one so pleasing on the palate. The Fusion Orient Sweets included Chinese Pine Smoked Tea Opera, Mandarin Orange Gateaux, Osmanthus Popping Macaroons and Matcha Yuzu Mahjong Bon Bons, to name a few.
And afternoon tea wouldn’t be complete without scones. The box includes four Jasmine Flower & Citrus scones, which we smothered with the clotted cream and Aloe Vera Honey Jam.
To help set the mood, the W Kuala Lumpur has included a QR code of specially curated Pop Orient groves from around Asia that you can stream on Spotify. Very well thought out!
The Pop Orient Afternoon Teabox (RM228+ excluding delivery) serves two people, but we enjoyed it among our gang of four. Delivery is between 2.30 pm – 5 pm and needs to be pre-ordered one day in advance.
