For the ongoing disaster relief in Bali at Mt. Agung's active volcano, as of October 4, 2017, there have been a total of 185,865 from 28 villages evacuated to hundreds of evacuee camps, in the north and northeast regions of Bali. The evacuee camps have been set up away from the government's declared "red" danger zones. The "red" danger zone is an immediate circumference of 12 kilometres around the Gunung Agung (Mount Agung) volcano vicinity, crater, slopes, and underlying villages.
A state of emergency has been declared by Bali's Governor, I Made Mangku Pastika, from September 26, 2017 to October 12, 2017. During this time the government will be responsible for attending to the needs, food and shelter of the Balinese evacuees. After this time the local Balinese and national Indonesian government, including the bodies for Disaster Mitigation and Assessment, will review the current conditions, and the requirements of each one of the camps, to see if ongoing support is necessary or not.
I'm An Angel Charity (Yayasan Bali Angel), established in 2003, steps in to fill the gaps, and support the hardest hit and deeply affected areas. I'm An Angel has been directly providing support and assistance to a total of 2000 villagers, in 16 camps. Most recently an additional 600 new evacuees have been housed since early October 2017 in Sega, North Bali. To date, I'm An Angel has distributed over Rp. 485million (USD 45,000) worth of staple goods, clothing, and shelter. Last week I'm An Angel provided support and relief to Dusun Segah, and the Poskos at Desa Nongan and Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali on the foothills of Mt. Agung.
Every week on Thursdays and Fridays, I'm An Angel team and volunteers load up a large truck filled with supplies bound for the evacuee camps. I'm An Angel is monitoring and checking evacuees and village people who have gone back to the "red" and other danger zones. This is also an issue.
This week, the evacuee camps are requiring items such as floor mats (rattan or plastic), old yoga mats which can be used as mattresses, sanitary napkins, and old or new towels.
