The ever-innovative Hector Berlioz drew inspiration for his greatest compositions from literature, using music to tell stories of passion. Kees Bakels conducts an all-Berlioz programme featuring charismatic mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron singing arias from Les Troyens and La Damnation de Faust. The MPO performs the radical Symphonie Fantastique – Berlioz’s ode to obsession and unrequited love.
