Diplomático is beyond happy have no other than Martin Cate from Smuggler's Cove San Francisco as the special guest featured for the first Diplomático & Co event in Malaysia at JungleBird.
Discover the inventive and imaginative story of Polynesian Pop. The fantastical history of the tiki bar was shaped by (and inspired) a movement that included art, music, architecture, and more in mid-century America. Martin, founder and owner of Smuggler’s Cove in San Francisco (The World's 50 Best Bars six years in a row, Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards winner - Best American Cocktail Bar 2016), leads a colorful journey into the lore and legend of tiki: its birth as an escapist fantasy for Depression-era Americans, how exotic cocktails were invented and re-invented, and tiki’s modern-day revival. Martin will share tales of his 25 year personal journey from enthusiast to entrepreneur, and the cocktails, rums, and artists that continue to inspire him today.

About Smugglers Cove:
A world famous renowned bar with 550+ rums, three levels, waterfall and pond, canon hanging from the ceiling, and more tropical kitsch per square inch than just about anywhere, you might visit Smuggler’s Cove expecting a gargantuan Trader Vic’s-style restaurant/entertainment complex. But you’re more likely to find a line waiting to get into this tiny tiki bar in which only two bartenders work at a time.
While the décor is a pirate-Polynesian fantasy, the cocktails served here and the bartenders who make them outshine anything about the interior design. The staff mixologists (many of who have worked here for five years or more) whip up measured, made-to-order, often eight-ingredient rum cocktails from the 70-strong drink list with amazing speed and agility, leaving you wondering where they keep their extra arms.
About Diplomatico & Co.:

Aiming to share experiences and techniques at first hand from some of the most influential personalities of the F&B industry worldwide through meet-ups, conferences, master classes and other different events.
