FFF 2018: INSPIRING CHANGE THROUGH FILMS - WHAT DOES IT REALLY TAKE?
This interactive session offers a rare opportunity to ask all your burning questions to an international panel of directors; Huang Hui-Chen (Taiwan), Indrani Kopal (Malaysia), Lau Kek Huat (Malaysia/Taiwan) and Olivier Pollet (France).
The filmmakers will also share their personal journeys and their insights to the essentials of documentary filmmaking from how-to tips to industry trends.

SPEAKERS BIO:
Huang Hui-Chen: Huang Hui-Chen is an activist and documentary filmmaker from Taiwan whose films feature intimate profiles of the less fortunate and the exploited and is used for social change. Hui-Chen's personal and thought-provoking documentary, “Small Talk” will be screened during FFF2018 and has garnered international attention by winning the Teddy Award for Best Documentary at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival.
Indrani Kopal: Indrani Kopal is an award-winning filmmaker and the founder and director of Far East Documentary Centre in Malaysia. Her short documentary "The Game Changer" won the best documentary award at the 2014 Harlem International Film Festival and at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase 2015 in Cannes, France. "Incarcerated Rhythm" her feature director debut follows six men who spent over a decade learning modern dance in a federal prison in New York.
Lau Kek Huat: Lau Kek Huat was born and brought up in Malaysia, but studied and worked most of his life overseas. His documentary film, Absent Without Leave, was banned in Malaysia due to communist overtones. The film has since garnered many awards including the Best Chinese Documentary Award in the Taiwan International Documentary Festival, Best Asian Documentary Award, Salaya International Documentary Film Festival and Audience Choice Award, Singapore International Film Festival. His documentary "Firefly" will be screened during FFF2018.
Olivier Pollet: Olivier Pollet is a young French journalist and independent documentary filmmaker, passionate about human rights, the environment and development issues. His work specialises in human rights, the environment and corporate accountability, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region and Papua New Guinea. His documentary "The Paguna Syndrome" will be screened during FFF2018.
