Mark Wigglesworth opens this concert with Shostakovich’s exhilarating Festive Overture written to commemorate the 1917 October Revolution. Malaysian pianist Mei Yi Foo returns to Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS to perform Beethoven’s grand Third Piano Concerto with its Classical-Romantic beauties. Rachmaninoff’s Third Symphony, with its melodious late Russian Romanticism, concludes this concert of two great Thirds that you should not miss.
