DJ Joel Lai (Hong Kong) on the decks on Friday, best house tunes guaranteed. Hong Kong born Joel Lai began DJing in the territories night-clubs & parties 31 years ago. He was the first to bring the club culture and sounds of House & Acid Jazz to Hong Kong. Since then he has continued to embrace all that the international arena has to offer and continue to mold the Hong Kong market, turning this former colony into one of the most progressive and exciting dance scene in Asia.

As Paul Oakenfold said at the time of the Unity party to mark Hong Kong’s handover to Chinese sovereignty in 1997, “Joel Lai can hold his own with the European DJ’s”*. He has played alongside the biggest names in the industry and continues to tour though-out Asia and Europe in major venues such as the Ministry of Sound (UK), Heaven (UK), Lulu in Germany to name a few.

Repeatedly voted Hong Kong’s No. 1 DJ by the local music press (Absolute Magazine & HK Magazine), Joel Lai is well known for drawing large crowds based on his name alone. Hong Kong clubbers have often walked away from some of the bigger club night’s wondering if Joel’s seamless and inspired set has out-shone the intended guest DJ’s. On more than a few occasions sweating faces have beamed through flashing light’s and peered over to the DJ booth surprised to discover Joel Lai commanding the decks rather than the featured DJ. The brainchild of internationally renowned DJ Joel Lai and late actress and producer Colette Koo, the bar/club has been at the forefront of Hong Kong’s club scene since it opened in 2000.
