Award-winning conductor Mark Wigglesworth and renowned pianist Stephen Hough return to Kuala Lumpur with two quintessential Russian works. Paganini’s Violin Caprice No. 24 lends its famous theme to Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a lyrical and virtuosic set of variations for piano and orchestra. Our programme concludes with Shostakovich’s monumental Eighth Symphony, a work which reflects the tenacity of the human spirit against the evils of war and oppression.
