SEPTEMBER 8: Warehouse Session 10 at Ril’s

Warehouse Sessions is a curated evening of independent wholesome indie goodness happening twice a month on Saturdays. Featured this time are:

A post shared by Le Chanteur Yasher (@yashersmusic) on

Yasher Shafee, a singer-songwriter who has been singing since he was very young and is heavily influenced by R&B and Jazz. He began by uploading his music, both covers and originals, on social media platforms to gain exposure and hone his craft.

Having been around for the better part of the past decade, performing with various acts, organising gigs, recording and producing indie acts, Psytrus is no stranger to the Malaysian indie music scene. Founder of Malaysian independent record label Pulse Soundworks, producer, recording and mixing engineer and singer/songwriters, is among the many hats worn by Psytrus. After leaving his day job in 2008, music has become his sole focus, be it production or performance.  Psytrus, the solo performer, is the story of a man on a musical journey of self-discovery. Never being the one afraid to experiment, expect to hear sounds influenced by the alternative 90s, the psychedelic 60s and the kitchen sink. It all boils down to the story of a man and his guitar, with lyrics from the heart and music from the soul. Apart from other collaborative efforts over the years, Psytrus has released the now crowd favourite sing along, "KL City Lights" in 2012 and most recently, the long awaited full length album, "T Shirt Kinda Guy" in June 2017.

A post shared by ASH (@ashneese) on

Armed with just a guitar and her soothing voice, and her eclectic blend of soul, R&B and bossa nova, Ash is a KL-based singer-songwriter who has just begun her journey into the performing arts. Often spotted at indie haunts such as The Bee, The KL Journal, Merdekarya and PLOY, she uses the stage to sing stories of her personal experiences with a subtle mix of melancholy and sensuality complimented with her delicate guitar playing style. With a decent repertoire of originals and covers under her belt so far, expect to see more of her in the near future as her journey has just begun.

A post shared by Aimee Choon (@ohitsanaimee) on

Aimee Choon is a folk cover singer from Penang. She has played in locations all around her home state, as well as at The Bee for events such as Soundstruck and Feedback. With a repertoire that includes the likes of Jason Mraz, Fleet Foxes, and Of Monsters and Men, Aimee’s performances usually consist of quirky, feel-good tunes. Accompanying her on the guitar is Mahesh Dass. While you would usually be more likely to find Mahesh rocking out on an 8-string guitar with his metal band, ArC, Mahesh also knows his way around an acoustic guitar, citing influences such as John Mayer, Jason Mraz, The Dear Hunter and Andy Mckee.
