From live music to comedy, from jazz to classical, from indie pop to hard rock, it’s a busy week ahead here in the Kuala Lumpur scene. Here are just some highlights of what’s on offer in and around the Klang Valley.

Amy Winehouse tribute 15 September 2017 No Black Tie

No Black Tie, KL’s favourite Jazz Bar/Club brings you two nights of special Amy Winehouse tributes featuring Dasha Logan, Dani and Robin Banerjee.

Daughter to legendary Loganathan from the Alleycats, Dasha Logan has been exposed to the music scene from a very young age and been passionate about it since she could remember. A true artist with a passion for music, Dasha Logan usually jams to her favourite genres of jazz, funk, soul and R&B.

DANI is an aspiring Jazz/blues singer. With her unique voice, she makes covers sound vintage, and has most recently been writing and performing her own originals.

Robin was a personal friend to Amy Winehouse and they had a special chemistry onstage and soulful sound when performing together. He has Winehouse between 2006 and 2008 appearing in the music videos for Back to Black and Rehab. Robin also played on 6 songs on the Back to Black Deluxe CD Album.

Live movie screening with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra

Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) olabola

Live screening of Ola Bola with live music accompaniment from the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestrra featuring Juwita Suwito.

Ola Bola is the famed 2016 Malaysian football film inspired by the glories of the Malaysian national football team in its quest to qualify for the 1980 Summer Olympics. The film has won awards in Malaysia and Taiwan in the Best Original Score and Theme Song categories.

Enjoy two nights of screening of this inspiring film at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, enhanced by ‘live’ music performed by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Don’t miss the exciting soundtrack composed by Onn San, including new music written especially for this concert, and featuring AIM winning vocalist Juwita Suwito.

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Jessica Cottis and there will also be an appearance by the UCSI Chorale.

Aidan Killian featuring Sulaiman Azmil at Crackhouse Comedy

Comedian Aidan Killian

LOL Events brings you Aidan Killan, one of the most daring, original and thought-provoking comedians Ireland has ever produced to Crackhouse Comedy Club for two nights. He has performed his unique comedy style for seven Edinburgh Fringes and was a ‘highlight’ at Glastonbury Festival 2016 / 2017. In 2017 he was nominated for best comedian at The World Fringe and has been sharing laughter on stages all over the world since.

During his two-year world comedy tour he was described as “Deliciously subversive”, and in Edinburgh the critics wrote, “Hysterical... Passionate driven intelligence”.

Tiger #UncageMusic presents FKJ

French Kiwi Juice

Always holding a recognizable groove, the multi-instrumentalist FKJ (French Kiwi Juice) is touring the world for his French Kiwi Juice album debut - and Tiger #UncageMusic is bringing him in to perform live in Malaysia at The Bee, Publika this Sunday.

Supporting the show is producer and multi-instrumentalist Shelhiel who explores different musical genres, leaving listeners with a mystical musical journey.

Taking this audio visual experience to the next level is freelance illustrator, designer and painter Brindha Kumar who will be transforming the venue with her artwork.

Perfect for mellowed chillers and energetic ravers alike, don't miss a night of incredibly groovy loops, classy hip-hop rhythms and gloriously funky bass lines.

Metallica fans gathering at Black Box, Publika

Metallica fans gathering at Black Box Publika Kuala Lumpur

Get set for Malaysia's first ever Metallica fans' grand gathering. It’s bound to be a mini rock fest in the Black Box as Metallica heads from Indonesia and Singapore are also set to join in.

Among the features for the day (starts at 3pm) included Metallica collectors' gathering, Metallica memorabilia and collectibles display and a screening of the movie Through the Never movie screening.

The biggest highlight will be a Metallica tribute concert by our own ‘tallica fan boys Maxxxter, The Ironman Band and Distorted Outlaws.

Lucy Rose: Kuala Lumpur Cinema Show 2017

The Bee are thrilled to be hosting UK singer-songwriter Lucy Rose once again for her Worldwide Cinema Tour 2017.

You’re in for an extra special treat, as this show includes a fascinating documentary screening of her debut tour of Latin America last year, plus a full live performance by Lucy and her band. This tour is to promote her latest record, Something’s Changing.

The new documentary acts as an intimate account of Lucy’s 2016 Latin America tour, where she asked her Latin American fans to plan and book her shows. The tour became a huge inspiration for the record and the film chronicles how it all came together.

Backed up by an exciting new band and supported by a new partnership with Communion Records, Lucy Rose is as revitalised as it gets. This is a show not to be missed by fans and music-lovers alike!
