ABOUT MUSICIANS:
His Hubris is saxophonist Yong Yandsen and Sudarshan Chandra Kumar on electronics. The duo is a result of their prior involvement in various other performative configurations and an effort to develop the techniques employed in their craft. Drawing from standard improv conventions, they utilize a synthesis of extended techniques and live audio signal processing to expand the nature of their practice.

“Saxophonist Yong Yandsen and electronic musician Sudarshan Chandra Kumar represent the small circle of musicians in Kuala Lumpur organizing a monthly improvised music event called SPIL (Serious Play Improv Lab). In interviews they both joke about small their audiences are and that no one comes back to their concerts, but in reality they serve as an important hub for both regional and international musicians on tour, which can be heard in their fluency and the unconventional ways they play their instruments.” Takuro Mizuta Lippit aka DJ Sniff — The Wire, December 2017

Hommes Trio is a Malaysian post-jazz band. Formed in 2018 by Fadhil Zulkifri (lead vocals, classical guitar),
Hafiz Arif @ Monk (trumpet), and Amir Syafiq (saxophone).
Hommes Trio is heavily influenced by the Scandinavian jazz-scape, namely, jazz band Mammal Hands and the
contemporary duo jazz-saxophonist Frøy Aagre & jazz-pianist Andreas Ulvo.
The trio initially met in 2008 at the National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage (ASK), as fellow students.
Only in 2010, their band an avant-jazz/ punk band called Think! Tadpole! Think! was formed which included
Fadhil and Amir. Eventually, Hafiz joined the band and it grew to be a seven-member musical ensemble,
disbanded in 2014.
