John Dip Silas is an internationally acclaimed jazz pianist residing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
John trained in classical music from the age of 5 and gained experience “performing” in church. At the age of 18, he enrolled at the Australian International Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, where he was exposed to jazz music. He graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor in Performing Arts (BMus) and has since been an active member of the Malaysian jazz scene. He currently teaches at the jazz faculty of University of Malaya, alongside performing at top jazz venues such as No Black Tie, Alexis Bistro, and Bobo KL.
John has performed at an array of jazz venues around Australia, Singapore, China and Malaysia. He has worked with a number of internationally acclaimed and accomplished musicians such as Tony Lakatos (Germany), Shunzo Ohno (Japan), Michael Simon (Venezuela), Diego Maroto (Mexico), Rodrigo Villanueva (Mexico), Maciej Fortuna (Poland), Chika Asamoto (Japan), James Flynn (Australia), Phil Scorgie (New Zealand), Amelia Ong (Indonesia), John Thomas (Malaysia), Marques Young (USA), Scott Murphy (Scottland), Ashton Moore (USA), Juwita Suwito (Malaysia) and many more.

After getting in the studio with 2-time Grammy Award winning producer and guitarist, Paul Brown, Daniel’s debut full-length album of original songs features the finest international smooth jazz artists. As Trevor James, Silverstein, Marca & Barkley artist, Daniel is no stranger to delivering his brand of music to the world, thrilling audiences at the MIDEM Festival in France and the Sunburst International Festival in Malaysia. He has also performed at ZoukOut, Music Matters Festival, Mosaic Music Festival, Audi Fashion Festival and Earth Hour, amongst many others.
