Soul Music is a genre that has been around for decades. Originally of African-American descent, Soul is a fusion of various well-known elements, such as Gospel, R&B and Jazz. It has birthed the likes of many incredible influential artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross to name a few. Sarawakian singers Pete Kallang and Clinton Chua wish to take the audience at No Black Tie on a journey through time, venturing into the beautiful, sultry and doo-wop-inspired style that is Soul.
The authenticity of Pete Kallang continues to captivate audiences like many great legends, such as Marvin Gaye and Earth Wind and Fire. Dubbed the Soul prince of Borneo, he is known for his joyful personality and emotional engagement during live performances. Pete understands that music is about creating a journey in each song, and has become one of the most prolific performers in the 21st Century to emerge from Sarawak.
A fresh new face to the Soul, R&B and Jazz scene is also Sarawakian-born, Clinton Jerome Chua. He started his musical journey from church, from then he went on to perform at various conferences in Borneo and pursued professionally in 2013 after releasing 2 singles. Clinton moved to Kuala Lumpur after graduating with a Degree in Mass Communication and Public Relations at Curtin University in Malaysia.
