In 2003, Louis Vuitton labelled Mia Palencia as Malaysia's Most Promising Musician at their Next Generation Awards. From an early age, Mia has performed on stage as a musician and thespian, recorded for numerious jingles, cartoons and documentaries as a singer-songwriter and voice actor. Mia has composed music for a myriad of projects, from indie films to musicals, and was the music director, composer and lyricist for MUD: Our Story of KL. The show was commissioned by the KL City Council and ran of an unprecedented 3 years, making it Malaysia's longest running musical. In 2017, Mia was invited to compose and produce “So Many Hands”, which became the official theme song of the 2017 South East Asian Games. She was given the honour of performing her song at the opening ceremony to an audience of 87,000 people at Bukit Jalil Stadium.
To join Mia Palencia is WVC. Originally formed as a trio, WVC became a quartet with the addition of their fourth member, Julian Chan who plays the saxophone. Having released five instrumental albums and toured around the region since their inception, WVC has explored different musical genres whilst still maintaining the foundation of jazz in its core. One of their forte is coming up with jazz re-arrangements to suit to the times by transforming unlikely pop tunes, Chinese and oriental classics, and mainstream hit tunes into new jazzy tunes.
