Graduating from the jazz department of the Bela Bartók Conservatory in Budapest 1979, Tony Lakatos then became one of the most respected saxophone players in Germany. He was the first Hungarian musician who appeared on the Gavin Report Top Ten in the American Jazz Music Radio.
In 2002 he signed an exclusive contract with SKIP Records, and in 2009 his recording of Gerschwin's "Porgy & Bess" with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band won the Deutsche Schallplatten Preis. Tony has performed as a saxophone soloist in numerous jazz/pop/rock recordings and concerts and has played the saxophone in 350 LP/CD recordings as a leader and sideman.
Tony Lakatos will be performing alongside established Jazz pianist, producer, record studio head and mentor, Michael Veerapen who launched his career even before graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music with Summa Cum Laude in 1982, making a name for himself in the industry. At 2017 SEA Games grand opening ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, Michael was the music director, composer and orchestrator, which was broadcasted live to all major ASEAN countries.
