Jazz pianist Wei Xang will be on stage for a heartfelt performance with the unique singer Richard Jackson.

Wei xiang is a latecomer into jazz, starting piano studies at 15 and jazz at 21 when he was in law school. A protege of Thelonius Monk alumni Victor Gaskin, Wei’s musical career has skyrocketed since his first gig at a hotel lounge. In the span of 12 years, he has performed with numerous international mainstream jazz icons, Grammy award winners and world music giants, and has toured extensively around the world. Wei was named as a “New Yorker of the Week” by NY1 station in the fall of 2008 for his work at churches for the homeless, as part of the Ouros Markovich Music Ministry.Wei has taught as an adjunct professor in New York University, and is currently a full-time lecturer of music at Lasalle College of the Arts. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio to a Gospel singer father, Richard Jackson grew up surrounded by music. His voice quickly became synonymous with vocal legends such as Luther Vandross, Barry White, Marvin Gaye & Ronald Isley. He went on to open for legendary acts such as The Stylistics, Regina Belle, Tuck & Patti, Peabo Bryson, Will Downing, Jennifer Holiday, George Clinton, Incognito and Bob James. He has performed with Jazz legends Ernie Watts and Randy Brecker as well as Kenny Drew Jr, Al Di Meola & Ricky Lawson to name a few. Currently based in Singapore, Richard has been performing internationally at Jazz Festivals in France, Russia as well as throughout Asia and is in constant demand. He combines incredible tone with intelligent phrasing and heartfelt intensity.
