JANUARY 12 : Le Noir KL presents Q Sound live on stage.
Q-Sound is a versatile and dynamic trombonist, bandleader,singer-songwriter and composer who performs and explores a wide array of musical genres. Born in Wichita Falls, TX, he grew up in Fort Smith, AR. He moved to New York City to study music in 2003. Since moving to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2009, he has profoundly contributed to the development of the growing jazz/art music culture in SE Asia.
Through his band, Q Sound has led numerous performances at jazz venues throughout the region, including sold-out performances at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas as part of DFP’s Happy Hour Series.

JANUARY 12 : Ee Jeng Trio featuring Annabel at Alexis Bistro
Based in Kuala Lumpur, keyboardist/pianist Ee Jeng graduated with a degree in Music Arranging from International College of Music (ICOM) under University Westminster. He has performed with many Malaysian music legends such as Michael Veerapen, Jose Thomas, Lewis Pragasam and many others.
For this weekend, the Ee Jeng Trio will be featured with Annabel Eliza. Annabel first made her debut as a vocalist in the 2009 Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival and has since then proven herself to be a versatile singer. Being able to sing genres from jazz to R&B to evergreen to pop to alternative, and still open to experimenting new boundaries with her voice, which was described as soothingly powerful.
Annabel has recently sung in Bobo KL and No Black Tie for the International Jazz Day with her excellent band 'Kangkung Belacan'. She is currently part of the KL Grooveworks Workshop conducted by Greg Lyons, as a vocalist. She has sung three times for the Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival and this year will be her 4th time gracing the stage. Besides that, she has sung for the Tip of Borneo Music Festival with renowned fingerstyle guitarist Roger Wang, as well as at the Penang Jazz Fest Fringe events.
Annabel currently sings freelance for functions and events and has released her first single 'Catchin Up', which is now available on iTunes and Spotify.

Public Voice was established on May, 1994 by Reza Khalili who has education on lead guitar in private school in Iran. They started their work as serious in 1995. Public Voice found special status between its fans in the field of blues and rock.
This group also holds variety concerts, produced some albums and co-operate with other artists and singers in Iran. Since 2008, Public Voice have travelled (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Ukraine)to continue their music career and they play music in different and famous pubs since 2008.
Now the band line up is a three piece blues & rock band living in Kuala Lumpur, still working on music and performing around the pubs and clubs. With Reza Khalili (guitar/vocals), Bahman Khalili (drums), Sasan Asgari (bass guitar).

JANUARY 13/14 : Bernstein At 100 by the MPO
The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra’s centenary tribute to the legendary American composer Leonard Bernstein continues with a performance of his Symphony No. 2 ‘The Age of Anxiety’ titled after Auden’s poem of the same name at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas. American pianist Conrad Tao plays its virtuosic piano part in his return visit to Kuala Lumpur after his debut two years ago.
We will also hear other Bernstein works like the Divertimento for Orchestra and the three Dance Episodes from his musical On the Town. To close, conductor Eiji Oue charms us with the Symphonic Dances from Bernstein’s most popular musical, West Side Story.

JANUARY 13 : Zalila Lee at Shook! Saturday Night Vibes
Singer-songwriter Zalila Lee has been gigging in and about Kuala Lumpur for the past decade or so. Armed with gritty vocals and an acoustic guitar; she often sings about thoughts and circumstances through a crossbreed of plucking, strumming, and palm-thumping –as evidenced in the rhythmic ride of her album “Shadows”, that was released in 2014.
Expect a mix of grooves from blues and indie rock, with a steady staple of alternative folk. She is joined on stage by Mariamlisa Zainal Abidin on cello, Savy Ho and Cheah Wei Li on the violin.

JANUARY 13 : MACBETH PRESENTS : Scarlet Heroes; Somewhere Under The Atmosphere Album Launch Party
Scarlet Heroes is a Kuala Lumpur based heavy pop punk band, with members Daryl (vocals), Jah (guitars), PJay (bass) and Bizee (drums). The band recently concluded their South East Asian tour leading up to the release of their debut album ‘Somewhere Under The Atmosphere’.

Amrita Soon started creating music as a way to drift out from the chaos of life and has since garnered a small following online and also through her live performances.
She has performed on local radio and TV stations and raised her own funds to travel to Nashville, where she was a featured performer at various songwriters’ nights and performed alongside the likes of Ella Mae Bowen and Lance Carpenter.
Amrita released her first EP ‘Clues’ in December 2014 and her song ‘Goodbye’ has been included in the compilation album ‘Rock for Ronan’ which aimed to raise funds in support of research on childhood cancers. Don't miss out this Saturday at Ril's!

JANUARY 14 : Alex Martin Band at the Bee
With a lineup that includes some of the luminaries of the Spanish music scene, this is one show you won’t want to miss. The Alex Martin Band comprises four very skilled musicians who have made their mark performing at music festivals and for major artists like Grammy-winning singer Alejandro Sanz, among others.
He will be joined onstage by guitarist Marcos Collado, one of the best jazz guitarists in Spain, and David Ruiz, winner of the Young Artist Spain talent contest. Rounding off the band is drummer Papa Dave, who has over 20 years experience in the music scene.

John Ashley Thomas started playing drums since he was 3 years old. JANUARY 16 : Upfront Arena present Fleet Foxes Live in Malaysia
Fleet Foxes' highly anticipated third album, “Crack-Up”, released on June 16 2017, comes six years after the 2011 release of “Helplessness Blues” and nearly a decade since the band’s 2008 self-titled debut. All eleven of the songs on Crack-Up were written by Robin Pecknold.
The album was co-produced by Pecknold and Skyler Skjelset, his longtime bandmate, collaborator, and childhood friend. Fleet Foxes is Robin Pecknold (vocals, multi-instrumentalist), Skyler Skjelset (multi-instrumentalist, vocals), Casey Wescott (multi-instrumentalist, vocals), Christian Wargo (multi-instrumentalist, vocals), and Morgan Henderson (multi-instrumentalist).

Michael Veerapen is well-known in the Malaysian Jazz scene – having established his name as a Jazz pianist, producer, record studio head and mentor.
An equally gifted saxophonist and composer Patrick is the recipient of numerous awards. In 2009 he was voted Outstanding Musician of the Elmhurst jazz Festival and his original composition 6 Here 12 There won the 2008 Signature Songwriters Competition. He has performed with seasoned veterans and jazz legends Willie Pickens, Rodney Whitaker, Benny Golson, and Jimmy Heath.
