OCTOBER 19/20: Tribute to John Coltrane: Jakob Dinesen Quartet
In this tribute to John Coltrane: Jakob Dinesen plays the tenor sax, with the John Dip Silas Trio – John Dip Silas (piano), Kasemsmai Wongchayasilpa (bass), and Pong Nakornchai (drums).
John William Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer, also known as “Trane”. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes and was later at the forefront of free jazz. He led at least fifty recording sessions, and appeared on many albums by other musicians, including trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk.
Jakob Dinesen is one of the most prominent and active musicians in Danish jazz – periodically almost hyperactive, horn always within reach, and always in demand. He has been characterized as an emotional and virtuosic musician and a powerful conveyor of the great tenor jazz tradition. His expression is both progressive and deeply rooted in tradition, with one leg comfortably resting in swing, bebop, and one in something more “here-and-now-modern”. The big difference is his open mind!.
He has a deep knowledge of jazz history, a rich sound and effortless instrumental technique. Combined with a balanced style and imagination, this makes for a musician so flexible, that he can easily find his own relaxed way into any musical setting – which makes him a perfect match for strings. He never loses his own identity regardless of his surroundings.

In collaboration with U Mobile as part of the Unlimited Grooves Musicmakers, Bil Musa will be showcasing music from her past, present and future.
She will be playing songs from her self named EP (released in 2015), songs from her latest album Young Adults (released in 2017) and new unreleased songs. Opening act will be Jaggfuzzbeats.

OCTOBER 19/20: Crackhouse presents Rizal Van Geyzel
Original Crackhouse. A strong presence in Malaysia's stand-up comedy scene, and is well known as the co-founder of Crackhouse Comedy Club and One Mic Stand.
Rizal has performed internationally in over eight countries and regularly performs in intimate club gigs as well as concert venues in front of thousands of people. If you want his bio, google him. If you've seen him host a show, then you know he needs no sugar coating, Rizal van Geyzel is one seriously funny Malaysian dude and brings all styles to play on stage - be it anecdotes, true stories, impersonations, observations, and more.

Trained in London, singer/songwriter Kai Chalmers has performed in multiple West End theatres and original productions at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, culminating in his recent performance as Eric Yong in Ola Bola the Musical this year.
Singing material from contemporary musicals, Kai will be joined by stage buddies Brian Chan, Abi Manyu & Melissa Ong, accompanied by Dennis Law on the Bobo Grand.

OCTOBER 23: Alex Woods – Women in Jazz featuring Dasha Logan
Alex Woods is an accomplished and multi award winning saxophonist, composer and arranger from the United Kingdom.
As a performer, he has collaborated with multiple Grammy award winning artists such as Jamie Cullum and Charlotte Church. Alex has toured extensively throughout Europe and has performed in some of the worlds top venues and festivals in Brazil, the USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Israel and Russia. Alex Woods debut album has been signed by Stoney Lane Records and will be released in autumn 2018.
As an arranger, he has worked on projects with Grammy award winning Vince Mendoza, Lalah Hathaway and the Metropole Orkest (Holland). He has also written for Big Band, string quartet and solo harp.
He has been featured on numerous radio and TV broadcasts with Jazz FM Canada and BBC TV and Radio.
