AUGUST 3/4: DIGiT – Get Ready to Funk at NBT
A little bit of jazz. A whole lot of funk.Pulling together five of the most experienced musicians in the Singapore scene today, DIGiT is out to set the new standard in old school, horn-driven funk; a good-time mix of variety and vibe focussed on keeping the positivity at an all time high. Having blown them away at SingJazz 2018 earlier in the year, the band have continued to carve a funky reputation as the band to see if you’re wanting to shake off the week that was, showcasing classic tunes from popular artists like James Brown and Candy Dulfer through to funk stalwarts like Maceo Parker and The Meters.
DIGiT are also delighted to announce the inclusion of legendary funkateer Erik Hargrove (James Brown/Bootsy Collins) on drums as a special treat for their NBT audiences. Fresh from his Band Leader role for shows in Singapore featuring The Brand New Heavies singer Sulene Fleming, Erik will be laying it down alongside Nolan (Australia – Keys/Vocal), Pablo (Venezuela – Sax), Ash (London – Trombone), and JP (Singapore – Bass) from start to finish across both performances.

AUGUST 3/4: Crackhouse presents Rizal van Geyzel
RVG is a strong presence in Malaysia's stand-up comedy scene and is well known as the co-founder of Crackhouse Comedy Club and One Mic Stand. He has performed internationally in over eight countries and regularly performs in intimate club gigs as well as concert venues in front of thousands of people.
If you want his bio, google him. If you've seen him host a show, then you know he needs no sugar coating, Rizal van Geyzel is one seriously funny Malaysian dude and brings all styles to play on stage- be it anacdotes, true stories, impersonations, observations, and more!

AUGUST 3/4: Bobo KL presents Lily Jannah
Lily Jannah Shades of Love with Afiq on Piano, Hanif on Bass & AKZ on percussion. Of Malay and Chinese parentage, Lily Jannah is a shining new light in the local music scene. She performs regularly at most of the live music venues in KL and has also toured Japan, Singapore and Indonesia.
As a backing vocalist, she has paid her dues singing for the likes of Jaclyn Victor, Kathy Ibrahim and Ramli Sarip and is super excited for this next step in her career as a soloist in her own right. Expect a smokey vocal twist on standards and originals in English, Bahasa Malaysia and more.

AUGUST 5: Karen Nunis & the Blue Notes
Karen Nunis sings blues-flavoured jazz. Expect a heathy dose of torch songs and quirky tunes from the old greats like Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan. Karen is a soulful blues/jazz singer as well as songwriter and fine artist, now back in Malaysia after many years abroad, where she sang in various collaborative efforts and exhibited her artworks.
She has played in Japan, the US and Singapore where she has formed her own bands – The Cadillacs, Black and Blue, The Blackstone Blues Band, Karen Nunis and The Space Cadets. She has also collaborated with many talented musicians for live performances and recordings including poet Keith Tuma (US); singer-songwriter Jesse Phillip (US); John Schwab of McGuffey Lane (US); Small Town Stars (Japan); Lewis Pragasam and Asia Beat (KL) Julian Mokhtar and Dos Flers (KL) as well as Fasy and Reboot (KL). The music she writes and sings fuses the idioms of blues and jazz, blending soulful world music overtones.

Wednesday with Artist-in-Residence for August, Aalex Termizi. Inspired by Norah Jones, Zee Avi and Lianne La Havas, Aalex Termizi stole the show at the inaugural BoboNose in May. Blending jazz into a more consumable package Aalex connects the niche genre with the easygoing nature of indie. Her precociousness stems from past battles with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, but it's also what carved the tangerine, somewhat muffled vocals that complements her quirky personality and music.

Pisco is proud to welcome again Billie Blue & The Nowhere Men, a folk-rock outfit who met in the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur. Often described as raw and vintage, the band draws their influences from groups of American folk and psychedelic rock from the 60s and early 70s, while also experimenting with the various musical sensibilities that each member brings.
