JUNE 22/23: Crackhouse presents Kevin Jay (Mal)
As seen on Netflix! Not to mention one of the highest rated specials on the streaming giant- we are getting good ol' Kavin Jay back to the Crackhouse stage.
A rapid-fire grumpy joke telling machine, Kavin may be grouchy but does it with such panache, you can’t help but laugh. He is an integral part of the comedy revolution in Malaysia.
Since his first performance start in 2006, Kavin has grown in leaps and bounds and is involved in many major comedy shows and projects. In 2010, he performed in a 15,000 strong St Patrick’s Day celebration with much success, in 2014 he was part of the Mumbai Pajama Comedy Festival, in 2015 part of the LOLfest, Crackhouse Carnival, and KLICfest performing alongside comedians such as Dave Callan, Pierre Hollins, Vir Das, JJ Whitehead, Chris Wainhouse, Paul Ogata, Sugar Sammy, Simon King, Glenn Wool and many more.
His intense sense of humor has tickled ribs and charmed audiences of many denominations. He has performed all over the world (eg. Singapore, India, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia, United Kingdom and many more). In his career he has gathered great reviews for his stint on RedFM, co-founded Malaysia’s longest running open mic show, One Mic Stand and is one of the writes on the hit show Obviously Harith Iskander.

Agis Kania (Agis Kania Kusumadewi) is a woman of Sundanese, Chinese and Indian descent. Born in Sukabumi on August 7th, 1987, Agis (her nickname) grew up in a musical family. Since her childhood throughout her college years, she regularly won singing competitions, at both regional and national levels.
While she was only in high school, Agis sang and recorded the anthem of her hometown Sukabumi (a Sundanese pop tune) which eventually became iconic there.

JUNE 23: Brendan de Cruz at Ril's Bangsar
Born and bred in Malaysia, singer-songwriter, Brendan James de Cruz is gradually making his mark in the Malaysian independent music scene. With an experience of 10 years and counting, de Cruz now has about 10 original songs all written with a passion beyond words. His music, as described by his friends, is sad but heartfelt. He did not, however, begin truly writing until recent years.
His incredible journey started out in a band with his brother during his high school years playing mainly at functions, pubs, and open mics. Eventually, they went their separate ways and de Cruz persisted in the music world juggling shows and studies in media technology. Having released his debut EP, “Even So”, on September 2016, Brendan de Cruz has been up and around town with promo shows, getting his music out there as much as possible.

Senja is an all-girl experimental band frombukit damansara. they’re good at working under extreme amounts of pressure and they love Spongebob and Mcdonald’s. Stick with them to watch them grow and they hope that you enjoy the show.
Kita:Orang
Atilla and Luqman, or better known as Kita:Orang, became fairly well-known with their covers through YouTube and Instagram. They are both currently working as songwriters under producer, Audi Mok, with songs in the works to be released sooner than you think. With various genres in their cards, they have been featured at Bernama News Channel’s “Nine 11” show, IIUM’s Radio Show, The Bee Jaya One’s Soundtruck Live, Wondermama’s Upstairs Live, and Morningwood’s Open Mic sessions.

JUNE 25: Classical Monday Ivory Series: Piano, Poetry & Paper at NBT
Mei Lin Hii, Eddin Khoo and Anne Dé is a very unique collaboration featuring music, poetry and paper artistry from Debussy, Latiff Mohidin, Erik Satie, Goenawan Mohamad, Joseph Brodsky and more.
Classical pianist Mei Lin Hii holds a Master of Music Degree and Professional Studies Diploma from the Manhattan School of Music in New York. There she studied with renowned teacher Zenon Fishbein. Prior to that, she was a student of Michael Ruiz at the American Conservatory of Music, Chicago.
Mei Lin has performed in piano masterclasses with world-renowned pianist-teachers such as Leon Fleisher, Byron Janis, Nina Svetlanova and the late Shura Cherkassky. As the winner of the 1995 Artists International Competition in New York, Mei Lin made her New York debut recital at Weill Hall in Carnegie Hall to a dazzled audience.
Eddin Khoo (poet) is the founder of Pusaka, and has lately taken to the stage to showcase his once hidden talent.
Anne Dé (paper artist) is a self-taught French artist. For more than ten years she has been a paper artist, doing her own hand-made paper with various fibres, working the transparency and texture of the paper for lighting, installations, interior and theater design. Since beginning of 2014, she is also focusing on other media.
For the « Piano, Poetry & Paper » evening @ No Black Tie, Anne Dé présents a mix media round piece; ink, wax, charcoal, pastel, and acrylic on abaca paper.
