SEPTEMBER 28/29: Crackhouse presents Stephen Carlin (SCO)
Born in Scotland and living in London, Stephen Carlin was named by Stewart Lee as one of the "Ten Best Comedians In The World Ever". Stephen has appeared on television and radio including ITV2's Comedy Cuts and The Milk Run on BBC Radio 1.
He also supported Stewart Lee on his "90s Comedian" tour and Stephen Merchant on his national tour. Writing for radio shows such as The News Quiz, The Now Show, Look Away Now, Recorded for Training Purposes, and Laura Solon Talking & Not Talking. He was also the runner up for the BBC's "Witty and Twisted" 2006 writing competition, and writer of numerous mockumentaries for BBC 4.

The most popular live music series in the Klang Valley is back for a fourth year running! Free up your calendars every last Friday of each month to enjoy a night great music and good fun. The local music scene is bursting with talent and this platform will continue to serve as a catalyst for many young acts to kickstart their journeys.

SEPTEMBER 28/29: Steve Thornton’s Miles: South of The Border
Percussionist Steve Thornton is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Before moving to Malaysia in 1997, Thornton lived and worked in New York. In the course of his formidable recording career he has worked and recorded with saxophonist Sadao Watanbe, and continues this gig today.
Thornton has also worked with and appeared on albums by Herbie Hancock, Mongo Santamaria, jazz legend Miles Davis, and pianist McCoy Tyner, as well as Tracy Chapman, Mariah Carey, and Michael Jackson. His playing is particularly well displayed on albums by jazz vocalist Tania Maria and by romantic crooner Jon Lucien. Most recently, Thornton released an album under his own name (“Nature’s Plan”), and appeared on a CD with Keiko Lee, a jazz vocalist popular in Japan.
Joining him at NBT will be Ariff Akhir (sax), Marques Young (trombone), Jingles (bass), John Dip Silas (Keys) and John Thomas (drums).

SEPTEMBER 28/29: Bobo KL presents Dani Live at Bobo
DANI is an aspiring Jazz/blues singer that has been captivating the local indie music scene since mid of 2015. She has quickly become a favourite at venues such as No Black Tie, Ril’s Bar, Le Noir, Merdekarya and many more. With her unique voice, she makes covers sound vintage, and has most recently been writing and performing her own originals.
DANI is inspired by the likes of Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Brittany Howard, Adele and Nai Palm, just to name a few. Supporting her are a group of talented musicians including Wei Li (Keyboards/Piano), AJ (Upright Bass) & Khairul (Trumpet)

JO is debuting her homecoming show at No Black Tie after 4 years abroad! Providing fresh sounds with soulful original music as well as her own take on Janelle Monae, Lizzo, Lianne La Havas etc., JO will be backed by Jermaine Wong on keys, Dean Sim on guitar, Gideon Yogan on bass and Omar Ibrahim on drums. J O – Malaysian singer, songwriter and music educator. A recent graduate from Berklee College of Music, J O has released original music since 2014. J O’s sound ranges from R&B pop to soul rock, and her live performances are backed by Malaysia’s top notch musicians. Get over that mid-week slump with a dose of comedy as it’s supposed to be – uncensored and honest. Raw, fast paced and edgy, Open Crack! Witness the grassroots comedy scene with newbies, regulars and if you’re lucky a surprise guest comic. The best 3 minute set of the night will cash RM100 AND an opportunity to perform on the weekend shows. To perform, just turn up at 8.00pm on the night itself to sign up. List closes at 8.45pm.
