Comedy, Theatre & Arts
KLPac (Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre)
As our theatres are temporarily closed, KLPac will be streaming their past shows via their YouTube channel for free. They aim to release one show recording every two weeks. Please note, these recordings were originally for archival purposes. If you’d like to see more shows like this, do consider making a donation to klpac or The Actors Studio via https://www.klpac.org/donations/ (indicate “Richard III” in remarks). Losses due to Covid-19 have exceeded RM1.1 million.
Ahead of ASLI’s upcoming Digital Performing Arts Carnival, KLPac are proud to be one of 8 Malaysian theatre groups that will be streaming their past shows the week before the carnival. Catch Dr. Deric Gan’s multi-award winning Mandarin adaptation of Richard III, co-presented by The Actors Studio Seni Teater Rakyat and MUKA SPACE 木卡空间 , from the 13th June 8.00 pm until 21st June midnight on klpac’s YouTube channel (with English subtitles). Staged in conjunction with The Actors Studio’s Shakespeare 400 celebrations, this adaptation of a William Shakespeare classic explores the parallels between the devious Richard and our modern political monsters.
Advisory: Show contains mature content, suitable for 16 years old & above.
ASLI’s carnival is a 15-hour marathon of shows streamed live on the 21st June 2020 from 8.30 am to 11.30 pm. It is an effort by the local Chinese performing arts community to keep the arts alive during this pandemic. If you’re keen to support ASLI’s efforts through sponsorship/donation, please contact 012 – 3196573.
