Echonomist at JIRO KL
Raw Fridays at Jiro KL presents Echonomist (GRE) on SEPT 22. Pre 2009, Echonomist saw his first live music project called "IνΦο", performing live with his band of live musicians and vocalist, covering a wide spectrum of electronic, downtempo music, releasing three studio albums till 2009, gaining fame mainly in the Greek electronic music scene.
Always on the lookout for new sounds and fresh music, he also acquired his own skills as a DJ, discovering the world of electronic dance music. Petros had fallen under the spell of stateside artists and labels like Maurizio, Carl Craig, Black Dog, Underground Resistance, Echocord to name a few. At this point he started his own solo project as Echonomist.
While his style can be varied, his quality is never compromised. His diverse musical styles place him amongst the most prolific producers whether electronic, dance or abstract. His elaborate live performances cover the whole dance spectrum meeting international acclaim. As a DJ, Echonomist brings the same qualities he has exhibited in his studio work to the live arena. Comfortably combining music from a wide range, he is a dynamic and interactive DJ who blends rolling basslines, harmonic synths, and energetic percussions to craft an infectious and atmospheric sound.
Also featuring for the night in Jiro will be Alan Tand and Dezz.

Circuitbreaker x Kuma : Roof Terrace : Le Noir KL
Le Noir KL presents Circuitbreaker and DJ Kuma on the Roof Terrace. Who is Circuitbreaker? Well, he started his passion for music in the late 80s back in the UK with a love of early electro, then moving through genres such as acid house, techno, breakbeat and deep house.
With a music collection that literally spans decades, his sets truly demonstrate the often clichéd ‘journey’, playing the latest rockin’ tunes, hypnotising bass lines, undiscovered gems and some pure grin inducing hands in the air classics. Having played many clubs in the early 90s in the UK, under many different guises, he took a step back from the live scene, all the while continuing to provide a new mix every few months for those in the know. Circuitbreaker has recently decided to step out from the shadows once more and take to the decks when he joined Le Noir KL when the club opened over a year ago .
Local legend and co-Le Noir KL resident DJ Kuma plays alongside him for the night.
Down at the Club Lounge, Charleston Cornelius and DJ K (Open Format) play commercial and open format and on the ground floor DJ Mie plays the bar in between live band sets and to the close.

Ain’t Nothing But Techno at Privi
Every month on Friday, Ed Dix presents Ain't Nothing But Techno (ANBT) (Link: https://www.facebook.com/anbtkl/) – a party series that freely explores and experiments across the techno spectrum, aiming to unite fans of both old and modern styles of techno. It consists of a journey through the wide range of the genre where Ed Dix invites over his favourite finest DJs and new talents.
Ed Dix is now at the forefront of KL’s fast growing underground scene. Amidst the titanic dark and underground movement lies a character who sticks out like a sore thumb with his uplifting and distinctive techno sound. The only rule he has is to push the boundaries of conventional electronic music exploring new directions while never losing sight of his core passions – playing music, sharing forward thinking visions and celebrating life.
His sound is defined by his high-octane performances and an unparalleled ability to engage and connect with the crowd and propelled forward by psychedelic beats and rippling synthetic basslines induced by techno, indie dance and hard drive debris like states. Whether it’s his solo or collaborative efforts he has always been a maverick presence in our underground dance culture. Essentially, his intention with his style is to make interesting club music that has emotional resonance.
For what could be the most techno orientated line up in this series, Ed Dix is joined for the second time by techno purist and head of TECHNOLOGUE, Jason Voon. He has been part of the local and regional electronic dance music scene since 1996. His sound comes close to being musical anarchy, with explosions of thrilling hard and funky beats running riot from his selection of root techno. So hop on the ferris wheel, raise your fists and be prepared to join him for a spin on a juicy ride into the sound of tomorrow.
Joining them is the guy behind Taste Of Groove – anType who runs the new monthly party Dictatorship, plus new talent HiRes aka Haresh K who makes regular appearances at Under9 club’s monthly Sessions. Sessions infamous DJ sets deconstruct genres with their forward thinking, non-judgemental approach to dance music. From Leftfield house to disco-techno, from electro to banging German techno, their unique approach to electronic music makes for an exciting DJ set.

Eugene and Bryan Burger at Le Noir KL
Le Noir KL presents Eugene and Bryan Burger on the Roof Terrace. Another one of Malaysia’s pioneers of the electronic dance music scene, Eugene's passion for dance and electronica music was borne in London, whilst studying Fine Art at the Central St Martins School of Art & Design. It was during this period that Eugene developed his turntable skills, after being exposed to the numerous underground sounds of dub, speed garage, hardcore house, techno and drum’n’bass in a variety of locations in and around London.
Having resided in London for over eight years from 1989 - 1997, Eugene was fortunate enough to experience the growth and fracturing of the UK dance scene first hand. With the initial birth of the pirate radio stations in London and the underground railway parties, right through to the current super clubs and one-off events, it was clear that Eugene was captivated by the whole concept of the dance and club culture. It was not long before artists such as The Orb, Mr.C, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Grooverider, Sasha, LTJ Bukem and Andy Weatherall became major influences for Eugene's musical palette.
Returning to Malaysia with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Eugene formed Tempo Events with like-minded and top local DJ's who felt the need to create a dance scene right here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has since been committed to contributing his efforts as a DJ, promoter and event organiser with Tempo, showcasing cutting-edge DJ's, artists and events.
In June 2002, Tempo created a Malaysian dance brand, Regenerate, which ran for five years. This series has proved to be a tremendous hit, attracting thousands of loyal followers. Not only was Regenerate a showcase for local and International artistes, It served as a platform that supported up-&-coming DJ's to gain recognition.
Eugene was one of those instrumental in making KL something of a clubbing capital with the constant organising of numerous pioneering warehouse and outdoor parties, including the creation and conceptualization of the legendary Movement KL and Carbon Club at the beginning of this millennium.
As a DJ, his mixing style is smooth and seamless, often riding the line between funky electro and tech-house and quality deep house, and, back in the day, drum’n’bass as well.
Fast forward to today, Eugene is now a fashion designer/DJ who is coming back with a new sound that focuses on deep melodic house or dirty tech-house to techno depending on the venue.
Bryan Burger himself was formerly part of Tempo back in the day and is no stranger to the pioneering group of DJs of the past two decades. Burger’s eclectic style cannot be pin pointed into a specific genre as his has built a personality that solely belongs to his own. Deep grooves that trembles within one’s heartbeat, infused with a funky electro baseline, and a prominent hint of a tribal touch which soars through the soul. Burger creates beats that pulsates through and reaches into a heightened frenzy of rapture. He’s also co-funder of Excessive Records and the Royale DJ Academy in Kuala Lumpur.
In the Club Lounge DJ Nesh and friends bring you hip hop, R&B and down on the ground floor DJ K (Open Format) plays the bar in between live band sets and to the close.

Darragh Casey and Alex Martin at Mantra Bar
Mantra Bar. Bangsar’s premier Roof terrace bar presents Darragh Casey and Alex Martin tomorrow.
Irish born but now Koh Phangan residing Darragh Caey makes a few guest appearances in KL this weekend. It’s been a long journey from the Irish countryside to the hedonistic Thai island of Koh Phangan Thailand but Darragh has kept one thing always the same - a no compromise love for musical innovation and making a connection with his crowds.
Hailing from Cork Ireland, but now residing on the island paradise of Koh Phangan, Thailand. The Irishman has been busy playing his flavour of energetic tracks at some of the best and most unique venues in Asia.
He holds a coveted residencey at forward-thinking music venue Loi Lay on Koh Phangan, and has played most events and clubs worth playing in the region.
Whether it be playing at events deep in the Koh Phangan jungle to 5000 people, Full Moon parties on the beach with 40,000, or even his long held Sunday residency at the intimate Loi Lay with only a 200 person capacity, Darragh always brings the confidence and versatility to give a great atmosphere to any club. This is what makes him one of Asia’s current top DJs.
After a busy year in 2016, 2017 has already been better for Darragh, with a pan-Asian tour and EPs due for release on some of the scene’s coolest labels.
Malaysia’s Alex Martin has been a fixture in the local and regional scene now for the better part of this new decade.
Custodian of deep, rhythmic dance beats and a care-free atmosphere. That’s how Alex describes himself as a DJ, never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy.
Today this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best – beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks.. all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat.
“For me, it’s all about emotions and a deep, hypnotic groove… playing racks that get you tapping your feet and nodding your head without you realising it, regardless of genre, tempo style or release date.”
A natural musician, with early self taught training on bass and guitar, Alex developed a passion for house music in the early 2000s and by 2010 he was playing to big room audiences at Quinte and Desire on Heritage Row, Kuala Lumpur.
As resident and founder of the underground house club, Quinte, along with KL techno-house veteran DJ Kuma, from its conception in 2010 to 2014, Quinte was notably one of the clubs that stuck to a strict underground music policy. And since July, this year, he’s co-founded and co-runs one of the most talked about Pool Parties in the Kuala Lumpur scene in recent years.
He has graced the podium alongside names such as Marco Bailey, Jay Lumen, Mark Farina, Daniel Portman, Marco Loco, Ahmet Sendil, Randy Seidman, Graham Gold, Nakadia and many more.
He is also a frequent guest resident in Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, Jungle Experience, Sramanora Waterfall Party, Echo Beach and Mellow Mountain Full Moon Night.
