MerdekaKarya Live Fundraiser September …

Merdekarya is now calling upon you to visit the bar for nights of live music, drinks and grub, to help them recoup the legal costs and lost income. 22 musicians have agreed to perform at Merdekarya’s Live Bar through the month, with free entry for all patrons. The company has also announced six new tuak (palm wine) flavours – including cinnamon, lime zest and asamboi – in an attempt to draw in crowds for the fundraisers.

Gerak Angin: The Malaysian Virtual Arts Festival

Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture presents Gerak Angin, The Malaysian Virtual Arts Festival, now happening until 2 October 2020. Gerak Angin is the term used to describe a musical overture made by the performers of spiritual healing traditions in Kelantan, such as Mak Yong and Main Puteri. It is led by a Rebab (spiked fiddle) player to evoke spiritual energy among the musicians, dancers, space and even the audience.

Brought to you by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Gerak Angin, The Malaysian Virtual Arts Festival, organised by Masakini Theatre, Sutra Foundation and Surprise Ventures, will showcase the insightful works of local artistes to be enjoyed in the comfort of your home. Gerak Angin represents the healing sentiment and tone of Malaysia’s first Virtual Performing Arts Festival. Having begun on Malaysia Day September 16 2020, Gerak Angin is a thoughtful gift to receive on this special day and 16 days thereafter. It will be a colourful spectacle of Malaysian dance, music and theatre highlights by 17 performing arts companies.
