But, while this weekend’s race marks the end of an era, as it is after all, the Final race that Malaysia will host, the parties will continue. Reason enough then to get out and party this weekend.…

Nuno dos Santos at Jiro KL
Jiro’s Raw sessions presents you Nuno dos Santos (NL/POR). This Portugal-born Dutch national has a cheeky charm about him that is difficult to escape and that works so well in his favor when taking control of the decks. Whether it’s running his own label “Something Happening Somewhere,” producing music, or DJing, you can feel that Nuno is utterly in love with what he does.
This love translates into an almost obsessive curiosity for fresh music. Whereas most DJs limit themselves to one style and stick with it, Nuno fuses different genres and creates a unique style and sound of his own. Combining that creative flexibility with a telepathic ability to read a dance floor, he is able to build the sort of memorable sets that only someone with years of experience can. From deep house to serene techno, old classics to modern gems, Nuno has it covered.
Nuno Dos Santos is also an acclaimed producer who has worked both solo and in collaboration with artists like Patrice Baumel, Estroe and TJ Kong (with whom he released the broadly praised full length album, After Dark, My Sweet in 2010) and has done so on established labels like Compost, Planet E, Green Records, Traum and Connaisseur. His sound is created using his deep knowledge of music and veers from sublime techno to more emotional house as exemplified by classic tracks like ‘Merging’, ‘Hamming’ and ‘Mon Toy.’
Proof of his abilities comes from the fact that he headlines the most upbeat clubs around Europe and America. Nuno has also been a resident and key figure at legendary clubs Trouw and Club 11, Amsterdam, where his unique sense of musical storytelling have developed and bloomed over the years.
For some artistes you will know exactly what sounds to expect when they play, but when you hear Nuno dos Santos begin one of his marathon sets you’ll never know if it’s going to be a hypnotic techno journey filled up with ambient intermezzo’s or a vibey house set containing lofi soundscapes fueled by poignant arps. You will only notice the transition due to the fact that an involving story is starting to take place and it will fit whatever glove the night is wearing.
Being the curator of Something Happening Somewhere, the label has a strong independent musical voice, releasing music by likeminded artistes.
Featured on the night alongside at Jiro will be JonnyVicious (MY) and Alan Tand (ID/Jiro)
JIRO KL : 61-1, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, KL

Dave Seaman at Kyo KL
Kyo KL F1 Special brings one of Britain’s progressive legends back into town for a night of progressive goodness with Dave Seaman as special guest.
There aren’t many artistes who’ve soundtracked the birth of dance music and are still leading its development more than two decades later. There are even less who have gifted both the club and pop scenes with unforgettable musical moments that get talked about in hushed tones years after their creation. Dave Seaman is one of a select few.
Whether it’s one of his spine-tingling Global Underground or Renaissance CDs that’s still burning a hole in your stereo years after its purchase, or the perfect pop of Kylie’s ‘Confide In Me’ that he co-wrote, produced and remixed, there’s very few with their heart in electronic music who haven’t been touched by his oeuvre in one form or another.
Having devoted almost every weekend over the last 20 years to moving dancefloors from Ibiza to Iceland, Seaman has played the world’s most recognised festivals and clubs in more than 80 countries throughout his career, while still lending his production nous to the music industry’s A List. Along with crafting beats for Ms Minogue and Pet Shop Boys, everyone from David Bowie to New Order and U2 to Michael Jackson have received a Seaman re-rub.
Today, Seaman’s passion to exhibit boundary-breaking talent is as strong as ever. Via the
independent record label Selador Recordings which he co owns with long time friend, Steve Parry, his inspired A&R has helped nurture some of the finest groove-merchants in dance music. The label’s roster speaks for itself, with Cristoph, Nicolas Masseyeff, Kiko, Kevin Over, Dubspeeka, Habischman, D Nox & Beckers, Quivver, Kiki, Gorge and Robert Babicz all contributing tracks and remixes recently.
30 years on from that initial boyhood dream, the places and people may have changed, but Seaman’s passion hasn’t. As busy as ever, he still continues to create. His recent releases on Suara, Noir Muisc, Sudbeat & Hive Audio have seen him enjoy both critical and chart success and with a whole wave of remixes ready for release, you know Seaman’s always on the frontline of electronic house music.
Also featuring for the night will be local progressive and techno heavyweights Terence C and Idham.

Sweatbox with Alex Martin
Art Xtreme Media’s weekly Sweatbox at Elysium Bar & Terrace goes on a marathon with their Long Player series featuring Alex Martin.
Custodian of deep, rhythmic dance beats and a care-free atmosphere. That’s how Alex describes himself as a DJ, never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy.
Today this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the ieces of this music that he loves best – beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks.. all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat.
A natural musician, Alex developed a passion for house music in the early 2000s and by 2010 he was playing to big room audiences at Quinte and Desire on Heritage Row, Kuala Lumpur.
As resident and founder of the underground house club, Quinte, along with KL techno-huse veteran DJ Kuma, from its conception in 2010 to 2014, Quinte was notably one of the clubs that stuck to a strict underground music policy.
And since July, this year, he’s co-founded and runs one of the most talked about Pool Parties – Daydream – in the Kuala Lumpur scene in recent years.
He has graced the podium alongside names such as Marco Bailey, Jay Lumen, Mark Farina, Daniel Portman, Marco Loco, Ahmet Sendil, Randy Seidman, Graham Gold, Nakadia and many more. He is also a frequent guest resident in Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, Jungle Experience, Sramanora Waterfall Party, Echo Beach and Mellow Mountain Full Moon Night.
